The Aqua Tower in Lakeshore East, Chicago was designed to be soft and fluid like water.  It’s blue color and varied pattern of balconies give it a remarkably ephemeral presence.  This 82 story mixed-use residential building is noted as one of the first major skyscrapers designed by a woman.  It is easy to get a sense for the feminine design by Jeanne Gang as it stands tall next to all of the hard edged, metal and steel buildings close by.
